How to pay your State Life premium online, and check your policy
Most premium questions we get are not about plans at all. People want to know where to pay, whether a payment has gone through, and what happens if they are a few days late. Here are the payment channels State Life itself lists, how to see your policy online, and the habits that keep your payments safe.
In short
- State Life lists four ways to pay: its E-pay website, any Bank Alfalah branch, JazzCash, or in person at a State Life office.
- You have 31 days after each due date to pay, whether you pay yearly, half-yearly, quarterly or monthly.
- To see your policy online, sign up on State Life's policyholder portal or its myslic app. The helpline is 051-111-777-542.
- Pay only through State Life's own channels and keep the receipt. Never hand premium money in cash to an individual, an agent included.
The ways State Life lists to pay
State Life's FAQ says policy loan repayments can be made through the same channels, so you do not need to visit a zone to pay back a loan either.
- Online through E-pay, State Life's payment site (epay.statelife.com.pk). It is the "E-pay" link at the top of statelife.com.pk.
- At any branch of Bank Alfalah.
- Through JazzCash.
- In person at any State Life office. Its zones are listed on State Life's contact page.
- State Life's payment guide also shows Kuickpay among its online options.
Before you pay
- Have your policy number ready. It is on the policy document and on every earlier receipt.
- Check the amount and the due date. If you are not sure, the policyholder portal, the app or the helpline can tell you.
- Check the policy number twice before you confirm. A payment made against the wrong number has to be traced and moved, which takes time.
- Keep the confirmation: a screenshot, the SMS or the bank receipt, with the transaction reference.
See your policy online
- The policyholder portal: sign up at statelife.com.pk/en/register, then log in at statelife.com.pk/en/login. State Life describes it as the place to access your policy, make a change to it, and arrange a payout.
- The myslic app, State Life's own app, on the App Store and Google Play.
- SMS alerts: State Life says updating your address and contact details also switches on the SMS alerts it sends policyholders. Send a written request with your valid CNIC to the zone that issued your policy.
- The helpline, 051-111-777-542, for anything you cannot find online.
- Looking for a policy you think a late parent held? State Life points to the CDC Life Insurance Policy Finder: SMS your CNIC number to 99833.
Paid late? The 31-day grace period
Every premium has **31 days** after its due date in which it can still be paid, on every payment mode. The policy stays in force throughout, so a payment made within the grace period is simply on time.
After that, the policy lapses. It can usually be put right: State Life allows a lapsed policy to be revived within five years of the first unpaid premium. See reviving a lapsed State Life policy.
Keep your payments safe
- Pay only through State Life's own channels: E-pay, the banks and wallets it lists, or a State Life office.
- Never hand premium money in cash to an individual, whoever they say they are. We will help you pay, but the money always goes straight to State Life.
- Keep every receipt until the policy has paid out.
- If a payment does not show on your policy after a few days, contact the zone that services your policy with the transaction reference, or send it to us and we will chase it.
Changing how often you pay
You can pay yearly, half-yearly, quarterly or monthly. To switch, State Life has a Change of Mode of Payment form among its alteration forms. Alterations are handled by the Policyholder Services department of the zone that services your policy, with a written request, the original documents, your valid CNIC and an alteration fee. As a rule, State Life does not allow alterations in a policy's first year.
